Fibonacci Revisited

An old story seems to fit here. Jesus saw infants being suckled. He said to His disciples, “These infants being suckled are like those who enter the Kingdom.” They said to Him, “Shall we then, as children, enter the Kingdom?” Jesus said to them, “When you make the two one, and when you make the inside like the outside and the outside like the inside, and the above like the below, and when you make the male and the female into a single one, so that the male not be male nor the female; and when you fashion eyes in the place of an eye, and a hand in place of a hand, and a foot in place of a foot, and an image in the place of an image; then will you enter [the Kingdom].”

Does this suggest that we truly are able to create our bodies? How? Sounds like a really interesting ‘spin’ on things, eh? Quantum discoveries allude to the possibility of our outer realities being an outpicturing of our internal belief systems. The incongruence in humanity’s behavior is simply a manifestation of false belief systems built over millennia. Time for a change? Is it possible we are cosmic consciousness condensed into form becoming aware of the fact?

With your permission I would like to share a few things about the development of cosmic physics, spindoctors of the new millennium, and personal experience. I hope that the structure of my writing and the vocabulary is understandable. I Am quite open to questions should the need arise. I may not have all the answers. I have experienced many modes of communication over the years, yet I find that expressing myself authentically resonates with the integrity of my heart.

Many messengers choose to use people who are open to channel and/or have a propensity for connecting with the etheric airwaves much like modern media outlets. They usually intend for you to believe them as undisputed truth. I ask that you not believe a thing I am about to present. Just read with an open mind and ask your own intelligence to reveal any truth.

Advances in quantum physics and spirituality are leading the way for humanity to discover just how connected things are in the holistic view on Planet Earth. Even new spiritual cinema producers are finding ways to display inner experiences on an external screen with animation that is quite close to the view from within. Discovering doorways or portals into other worlds happens quite naturally when one is open to it and has the right set of circumstances prevailing in the moment.

Spiritual paths converge as one finds their own Divine Blueprint unfolding in the blink of an eye, forever changing their lives and critical understanding of the Nature of Creation. Many find these openings and, not quite sure what to do, often never return because of the difficulty in bridging the worlds of experience that develop from further exploration. Sometimes it just seems so unreal that the mind, in its current state of confusion, is unable to relinquish control and inhibits further development. Balancing inner and outer realities is an age-old dilemma.

Spindoctors of a different sort…

merkanimaThe image on the right is a collection of mathematical computations using the Fibonacci sequence, arriving at a quite interesting graphic presentation. A discussion with a friend regarding the figure and about sacred geometry facilitated a most intriguing experience in meditation. We had been discussing the investigation of  the ‘X’ factor that modern alchemists are theorizing that, when discovered, will bridge worlds within the quantum and hyperdimensional physics, allowing humans to expand their awareness into other dimensions. Current information regarding ‘Merkaba Meditations’ also allude to this capacity. While contemplating our conversation just before meditating, I was reminded of some recent discoveries that may be of interest regarding inner portals and the bridging of worlds.

Much of this information has been present in many ancient texts and even some current pieces available on the Net. A simple keyword search will reveal much. There are ‘keys’ that allow the ‘seeker of truth,’ the ‘mystery school initiate’ or the ‘spiritual devotee’ to access more profound and simple truths in the organizational matrix of Creation. This access has been happening in unprecedented numbers within the last few years it appears.

Some, like myself, are particularly open to these experiences and are sharing what we find. It is not meant to wave a flag like someone with a messianic complex, yet these apparent evolutionary understandings are real. We’ve all been waiting for ‘something’ to begin happening. Let me diverge on a tangential congruency for a moment.

Our world is changing rapidly and people are recognizing the need for authenticity, honesty and integrity toward others. This factor alone promotes an attraction of ‘God drops’ or ‘insightful moments’ where many facts that have been collected suddenly have a ‘domino effect’ as the dots are connected in consciousness, where an instantaneous pulse of ‘light’ extends and contracts in all of a nanosecond. The affect is felt as a profound moment of connection beyond comprehension, a cognitive cohesion of congruent thoughts if you will, a peace that surpasseth understanding. Sometimes it feels like a short heart-pulse of such incredible depth that articulating the understanding could take years.

A short time ago I was astonished at the connections from a continent away with regard to this process. I’d been experimenting in these inner worlds for some years, not realizing that others had access, too, because I rarely encountered anyone, let alone consciously recognized them. Still, I could not deny what I knew and shared nor the reflection provided by the members of the RAHMA Mission group in Santiago, Chile. Part of me is astounded at the humble happening, a greater part is awed by the inspiration this experience offered others.

As you look at the figure above, an example of the ‘spin’ defined in the merkaba meditations mentioned previously, the obvious ‘star’ configuration appears in irrefutable magnificence, resonance and recapitulation of the sacred geometry of space/time. Consider that the points of the star are the exit and entrance of a single point of light moving though a ‘plane,’ an example of the ‘trinity’ appears like the proton, neutron, and electron, sublime and revealed in the spiritual quest for the cosmic conundrum: ‘Who Am I?’ and more importantly, ‘How Am I?’ Interestingly enough, I’d also been given another ‘Star of David’ with additional details over 20 years ago while standing in front of a precision grinding machine at an aerospace company…my day job.

All I did at the time was listen and follow subtle promptings of the ‘voice within’ that I had known for years and trusted implicitly. This image appeared to have many ancient symbols included in its design, somehow reflecting some deep-seated triggers to my own investigation of the nature of Creation and our designated purpose within it (the cosmic conundrum). Knowing oneself is the first step to finding one’s path. Researching this symbol, and its various sub-symbols has led to some phenomenal experiences and understanding, with the articulation of deeper developments still in process.

Moving along to the Torus…

Although a simple process, the explanation of a prescribed path to a merkaba activation meditation and inner experience can be challenging and difficult, at best. Moving inward with the flow of introspection for integration, we often feel the swirling flow engulf us as we journey the rainbow matrix. I began using a term called ‘egocentripidy’ some time ago as evidence of the necessary incorporation and integration of the ego, which many feel to be a deterrent to the mastery of self.

A naive perspective of Oneness would indicate that everything is included. A discussion of the Fibonacci sequence revealed an interesting correlation to the torus. Seems this serendipity spawned symbiotic samples on a variety of e-group lists in the summer/fall of 2001. At any rate, I trust it is helpful. I may not always be able to express in a language compatible with all, yet the gift of intelligence with a large vocabulary allows an interesting wordsmithing to the cosmic myth weaving process…

Using the example of Einstein’s torus below, imagine what a multi-dimensional folding in/out of these planes would engage in the realms of consciousness. Might it lead to a further recognition of a holistic view of living, complete with a natural urge to merge with our Creators? If you notice, the various numeric sequences produce patterns on the torus. There is another graph that demonstrates just how the numbers lay out on a single plane yet, as applied to this model, produce a series of interconnecting planes/dimensions/worlds. The nature of the torus is to be constantly turning in/folding out, so these ‘worlds’ are constantly being integrated or ‘shared’ as the torus activity continues.

Now, here is the mind-blower… we each have one of these in the center of our being, constantly in motion with pulses and spins of unimaginable magnitude. What is the result? What do you think? What do you feel? What do you do? What life unfolds? What living environment results when many experience this process? We increase our awareness of ‘what is’ and are therefore more capable of experiencing ‘unconditional love’ or ‘pure shareable energy’ in the process. It is as simple as a single breath in complete trust of All That Is.

When we breath, feel, and think from this point within our natural metaphysical makeup, our ability to perceive and our awareness of self and others is magnified beyond dogma and tradition. Walking with this ‘conceptual image’ looks much like the image below, put together as a complete sphere. It resembles the electromagnetic fields of the earth as well.I’ll borrow a piece from a friend to explain the ‘horn torus.’ The Horn Torus (nearly spherical torus with an infinitesimally small/wide center) Universe is often mistaken for being a sphere. All spheres in the universe share the connection to the center of this torus, including the ‘great sphere.’

The outside of the torus (the ‘outer bounds’ of the boundless infinite universe) is also the same surface as the center. Everything contained within the outer surface and the center is also in the center. This applies to the individual as well as the collective, like fractals of the ONE. We are all one, and all exist within that singularity of oneness. Higher vibrational existence will not mean we are abandoning physicality, or dense realities such as this one. What it will mean is that we can experience such realities without getting “stuck ” in them.

What’s really interesting is that we go through our lives with a fluidity of experience already, from one event to another. We carry emotional charges throughout our lives resulting from our experience. This example goes beyond the emotional bindings of the mental bias that we often create without realizing it. When one reaches a place of ‘unconditional love’ these emotional charges are nullified. Of course this is only an intellectual explanation of the process. Living in LOVE, what might be called Limitless Oscillating Vibrational Energy, is the greatest challenge of all humanity and the objective of all spiritual teachings. Somewhere along the way, our understanding of science and spirituality becomes congruent.

Fibonacci revisited…

rodinThe Fibonacci sequence is the mathematical expression of the fractal that apparently exists at the core of every natural order, including human DNA. The discovery of the ‘Golden Mean’ is the basis for one of he most profound mathematical postulations of history, the Pythagorean Theory. Researching this further on your own is highly recommended. This sequence also produces an array of symbols, including several variations of the 6-pointed hexagram, or star tetrahedron in 3d. Spiritual mathematicians or sacred geometrists have often talked about the ‘X’ factor that enables access to the other worlds on a fully conscious level.

In looking at one of the sequences of exploration, there is a pattern that, when drawn connecting specific points, reveals an open-ended square with an ‘X’ in the middle, hence I suppose, the ‘X’ factor. Not the type of thing you would figure from such a symmetrical sequence. Paradoxes abound in the quest for the cosmic conundrum. Interestingly enough, the ‘X’ becomes a swastika as it begins to spin. The swastika becomes the medicine wheel and both are ubiquitous in religious symbology. Again, when one looses the ‘charge’ associated with either image, a natural understanding unfolds quite organically.

When the number sequence is reversed it produces a ‘Z’ shape across the middle of the star. So far, this key to the door of our inner experience is more of a ‘Z’ factor. Could this fit with yet another paradox; looking deeper in the mirror and the journey down the proverbial rabbit hole? Musing as it is, one of my partner’s pet names for me is ‘Z-man’ as I seem to help her spin in/out when she meditates close to me physically.

A morning meditation just after the late-night/early-morning discussion revealed how it looked in 3d, with the upper and lower lines curved in opposite directions and the center line slightly curved as though it were representing a spinning ‘Z’, which is what the entrance to the portals resemble as  one looks down upon the ‘Z,’ which is not to say that we are superior beings. Imagine looking down a tube with a Z-shaped spiraled blade  (or S-shaped depending on the top of bottom view) spinning at varying speeds. I think you get the picture.

The ‘X’ factor is revealed when you consider going AND returning, the mirror images, or spins. It shows up as an ‘X’ or a swastika on a two-dimensional model. When viewed from an internal point of perspective one can literally watch as the implosion and explosion occurs simultaneously and in perfect harmony. This also ties into the rotating feathered serpent medicine wheel that the Mayans spoke of and Jose Arguelles described could be seen above the ‘gathering places’ during the Harmonic Convergence in 1987. Most other cultures have similar descriptions of this imagery, whether in a positive or negative light indicates their inability to see things as ‘whole’ at the time.

Humans have always tended to separate their experience into polarities of fear and love, separation from and union with the Divine. To simply observe this imagery without criticism leads to freedom of the mind and alignment with heart. Sounds so simple doesn’t it? I saw the rotating feathered serpent medicine wheel during a campout with my family the weekend of the Harmonic Convergence when I asked, “If God created us then who created God?,” and it appeared again during a group meditation with some friends before returning to Phoenix in the fall of 2001.

These friends asked if we could meditate to the music my band had produced as they felt incorporating our music would help facilitate the opening of these portals. The music fits the genres of ‘celestial rock’ or ‘progressive improv’ and I had used it for guided meditations and hypnotherapy sessions in the past. What we experienced was nothing short of amazing. This image also seems to be reflected in the spiraled helix of our DNA, only minus one cross-member, simplified to some extent.

What if you included the yin/yang as a two-dimensional version of a cross-section of DNA, with the energy movements of ‘on and off’ represented by black and white? By that I mean when one looks at a top-down black and white view of pulsing energy through the DNA helix, the TAO appears. This is another indicator of the spindoctoring of  internal understanding [innate knowing] of the truth of our creation that is within our own being as evidence of ‘How We Are,’ not just ‘Who We Are.’

The etheric empiricists [channels of pseudo-science] cite tens to thousands of ‘additional strands’ through some cosmically controlled ascension of planet Earth to offer some validity of the expansion of consciousness as part of a Master Plan. I cannot speak to the intricacies of our genetic material. However, the appearance of this pattern [Golden Mean] would indicate that there is correlation in all forms in creation, or at least what we can recognize so far. This seems to be making us one big family, eh?

What the relevance may be now is that as we move in and out of various worlds, or even aboard ship (apparently there is a large group who experience individual and collective trips), this pattern is recognizable in the movements throughout the rainbow highways of the Universe available to the spiritual experiencer/seeker. As a result of an amazing increase of spiritual initiates, we are beginning to see the fallacy in putting our trust in the things of this world and those who manage them.

Personal gain has not relinquished its hold on the human psyche just yet. It just doesn’t appear that the right dots are being connected for the benefit of humanity and world leaders appear helpless in the shadow of corporate expansion. Now this might seem an incongruence in the discussion so far. What of the person that is so spiritual that they are no earthly good? It only seems appropriate that our growth in understanding and wisdom of who and how we are would lead us to better collaboration in worldly affairs.

Many are beginning to traverse the intradimensional pathways, encountering some difficulty with the sensations of letting go of the physical form in order to journey. Perhaps the foreknowledge of some of the visuals will make the transitions flow more easily. My sense is that we are already familiar with these pathways from dreamtime. Still as just mentioned, our quest is not about leaving the physical form. Our evolutionary pattern seems to point to the integration of our physical form into a greater experience, where we have the opportunity to live in many mansions simultaneously.

The more we realize these things, and that transcendence often happens in nanoseconds [speed of thought], the more capacity we have to act in the now. The present moment contains the connective dots of past and future views, generations of possibility, and allows us to make better choices in the management of our day-to-day activity. The human race is not simply going to go ‘poof’ into some perfect state of existence, in my humble opinion. The reality is that it is going to take inner and outer activity to match the needs of our whole being, which just happens to be anchored in these physical bodies now, yet obviously goes way beyond them.

An Application of the Z-factor

zmatrixCosmologically our planetary vibration is increasing subtly as we move into new areas of space that some refer to as the Photon Belt, possibly corresponding to the move into the ‘Aquarian Age.’ This also corresponds to an increase in subtle energy vibrations that permeate our feeling worlds. Subtle vibrations are the magnificent manifestations of conscious energy, our own and our Creators’. Now, as vibratory levels have been on the rise, the experiences of ‘inner awareness’ are becoming more prevalent in waking states of consciousness, often facilitated with music and/or other catalysts yet not necessary as meditation alone offers access to these realms.

Strangely enough this also corresponds to an experience I had a decade before, where I was apparently selected for an ‘abduction’ by non-human intelligence which really wasn’t an abduction at all. I learned that their technology is being used to subtly adjust the vibratory rates of certain humans to make it easier to communicate with them. Concurrently, this action also promotes a greater sensitivity within those same humans. Hundreds, if not thousands, of these cases exist but have not been understood to this depth. We’re only scratching the surface of understanding the timeline of ‘soular’ evolution in my opinion.

Regular journeying through meditation seems to remove the fears and emotional disturbances as well, although it doesn’t seem to do too much for daily routines of procrastination or global domination yet. Maybe it has something to do with that eye of the needle thing. The visual pattern is also reminiscent of the merkaba craft generation which is known to facilitate inter- and intrastellar (inside) travel among certain groups of space cadets. This may be helpful in creating better ship to shore communications and travel. I’d recommend at least exploring the merkaba craft generation link.

Let’s look at a direct application of these theorems. This experience provided all participants entrance into realms within consciousness that we rarely explore. These areas are available through what some call the ‘activation of the merkaba’ and using this ‘ship’ as a vehicle. Let me explain what it looked like as our higher selves ‘visioneered’ the process. We all held hands and offered a prayer of unity and protection as we began our internal journey. As the music progressed (first tune was what you are listening to now) I began to ‘vision’ three tubes of light connecting the opposite points of the six-pointed star commonly identified as the Star of David.

These tubes of light had energy flowing in opposite directions simultaneously within them. As they began to increase in flow, the tubes split and began rotating with the points of the star as axis points. The spin became so fast that it became a sphere around us, gradually spreading out into the shape of a saucer-type craft. Crafty as it was, the natural expansion of the light was intense. The edges reached to the edge of the visible horizon within my scope of vision.

At this point, in the center of our circle, there became visible two rotating swastikas. One was moving clockwise, the other counter-clockwise, with trailing edges making it look the Mayan perspective of the rotating feathered serpent medicine wheel. The spinning increased and began to pulse images of each simultaneously upward and downward into infinity. As the rotation continued, the two began to oscillate inward and outward in mirror-like fashion. As one would move outward, the other would move inward and then reverse. The whole thing looked like a transporter beam from Star Trek, with rainbow sparkled filaments throughout the entire movement of the wheels.

As this was taking place, I began to see images like those that Dan Winter had presented in his video presentations of the Fibonacci sequence and its relationship with the Golden Mean (.618) which is how the Pyramids in Egypt are arranged reflecting the mathematical spiral of the expression of the Golden Mean’s graphic form. The image, though, was actually of the vortex representing the compression, or implosion, of pure sharable energy through the center of our hearts. Many waveforms ‘nest’ within each other as this process takes place with each heartbeat that is aligned with pure shareable energy… that which is in alignment with Natural Order of Creation.

Our understanding of chaos flows into natural order as well as we tame the beast (mind) within us all. There is an interesting reference to the word ‘satan’ that indicates the word came from the Greek ‘thetan’ and actually means ‘thinker.’ Some smart fellow thought it would be convenient with a nearly illiterate public to supplant ‘thetan’ with ‘satan’ in order to confabulate early religious teachings. The result enabled Constantine to effectively include all the pagan nuances in the newly constructed religious text so populations could be controlled. It was the first marriage of church and state… but I digress.

This vortex looks like two cones that are connected by the tops and appear like an hourglass form with the top and bottom fanning out like a megaphone. Yet, once inside it takes on seeming infinite dimensions with all the rainbow-sparkled movement of fluid light tails. These waveforms were visible as they came into the center of the group, through the center, and releasing again on the other side. It is well known that our ascension process is primarily related to aligning with the pure energy of Creation in our bio-spiritual evolutionary pathway. Even within the point of light at the center of our Heart of Hearts, there is a doorway into the Void, also known as a Black Hole is cosmological terms.

This is our connection with the ONE, from whence all Creation manifests through light and sound. From this place we can see infinitely inward and infinitely outward simultaneously. The place of no beginning and no ending. The image below offers some resemblance. When the tape reached the end of the first side I reflected on what I had scene and thought that it would be beneficial to ask the others what their experience was before saying a word about mine. Often, we do not reflect with each other what our internal experiences are with meditative environments. Granted, the Ascended Masters have often said, ‘to know, to dare, to do, and to be silent.’

Well, this was because the experiences were so rare that when one would share, the energy would be disbursed by the disbelief of others. In this case, and others, we were paracelestparticipating in openness and devotion to the ONE. It felt appropriate to ask the others to share from that perspective. Although the language used (descriptive terms) was somewhat varied, the experience was definitely shared by all of us. I’ve been able to facilitate other group experiences with larger groups as well, using our music. The descriptions of the participants have been phenomenal to say the least. Oh, yes… I forgot to mention the music was created by Outcasts and Social Misfits, the guys I’ve played music with for over a decade. Here’s the CD that was eventually published.

The prevalent experience of the second side of the tape that we all related was of unfolding into winged creatures. The others saw themselves as Angels who gently surrounded the group with their wings as a sign of love and nurturing to one another. I, on the other hand, made the same gesture, yet I saw myself as a white dragon. I’ve been shown the reality of this in too many ways to mention here. Still, I’m just a human being with way too much outside the boxness to fit into many situations and ‘normal’ environments.

So, I tend to express myself with no regrets or thoughts of repercussions, acknowledging letting go of attachment to outcome. Granted, if I were in somebody else’s shoes, I’d probably have some major difficulties with my ‘story’ and potential benefit. The TRUTH IS LOVE… and waging war in righteousness is in process. This does not mean violence toward my fellowman. Just the opposite. We are being aligned now in order to take our rightful place among the Cosmic Order of Creation. This includes many worlds already, as we might view our visible light spectrum as one of these worlds, there are others visible through our inner sight.

In time, these will also be as visible as our current realm. Currently, our youth are already sensing these realms, causing major boredom in classrooms and aberrant behavior due to our lack of understanding this and providing them with relevant educational processes. We drug these same children to put the back into the ‘box’ that we’ve allowed ourselves to be contained in when they [children] were never meant to be in it in the first place. They have far more sensitivity and understanding of connectedness than most adults, yet we fail them miserably because we do not pay attention to their messages to us, consequently they become ‘labeled’ and put into various ‘programs’ to rehabilitate. Some just exit the ‘system’ altogether.

In Arizona alone, just last year, over 50% of the youth detained by police where NOT enrolled in school. The fact is- we have not habilitated them to begin with, nor ourselves for that matter. We need some methods to teach through holistic education, like Spectrum Academy might offer. Many are seeking understanding of the Nature of our Being in this period of our planetary evolution. The children aren’t the only ones that are having difficulty finding their ‘center.’ As those gather in devotion to this pure sharable energy, we begin to become aware of our ‘godhood’ as we gain awareness of additional levels of consciousness and their applications. I often speak of the ‘other’ 45 senses in the 90% of our brain that science has thought to be dormant (simple ratio of senses to brain capacity).

As complete Beings nothing is dormant, only our awareness of it. So these processes allow us to have direct experience of these realms of consciousness and subsequently makes them REAL to each of us. As we become aware of these realms, we also become aware of our individuation and ‘role’ within the overall scheme of Creation. We are ONE yet have perfect fractalization that allows us to ‘find’ our perfect place in both consciousness and physical creation. We all know that we each have a ‘Divine Purpose’ for which we spend countless amounts of time pondering in our quest to find connection to ALL THAT IS.

Imagine a high school with the mission to empower young men and women to achieve the awareness and implementation of their life’s purpose today. My partner actually teaches at one now, so things are looking up. Imagine this concept carried through a college or university environment. How about an entire village?

Consistent with this line of logic, and recognizing many are incarnating from ‘other’ realms now, there are those who are discovering and sharing this understanding and the methodologies to develop them within oneself. I AM one of those who has come to do this and more. I Am One of Many. We’ve all had to move beyond the Messianic Complex. Understanding that one can simultaneously incarnate as a planet and administrator (in times past) brings us a bit closure to realizing that the more we know the more our ignorance exponentiates.

As we release the fear that ignorance promotes, there are many new experiences of connectivity that become available. Resistance to it is truly futile as this growth and connectivity is imbedded within our natural evolutionary process. JJ Hurtak’s book, “The Keys of Enoch,” addresses this very point. Even when we can ‘hear’ the ‘white noise’ in the silence within, we can gently rest in the arms of the dragon as we descend beyond the sound. This, too, opens up worlds of wonder…WOW.

It is time we knew more of who and what we are. “The Urantia Book” provides some very in-depth explorations of the spiritual and material hierarchies of Creation. An open mind and heart with sincere questions can uncover truth beyond the imagination of most people. Books aren’t necessarily ‘the way’ as much as they are a ‘verification’ of what others have found in their unadulterated search. They approach it as a child. Truth will always be self-revealing and promotes unity of action toward demonstrable reflection in our outer reality.

Simply put… we live in harmony with each other and the planet. The example I have been given to share to illustrate this, and the development of the new world order unlike what you’ve heard about in the news, is the Genesis II Community that is an extension of Spectrum Academy. Your gifts of L.O.V.E. (limitless oscillating vibrational energy) are always appreciated and will reflect in glorious ways in your own lives.

Industry Comparison

wiz1Industry Comparison

E-business has become a burgeoning field of interaction. Technology breakthroughs have enabled a virtual global market where nearly anyone can offer their wares to an ever-expanding market. Covered within the text are various business models that exist today. They include: Brokerage Model; Advertising Model; Infomediary Model; Merchant Model Virtual; Manufacturer Model; Affiliate Model; Community Model; Subscription Model; and the Utility Model. For the purpose of this paper a hybrid model will be the focus of discussion, delving into the realms of evolving educational delivery systems made possible through e-business.

Community Technology Centers

A Community Technology Center (CTC) is where people get free or low-cost access to computers and computer-related technology, such as the Internet, together with learning opportunities that encourage exploration and discovery. CTCs also provide low-income areas with job-development opportunities, access to social service information, community outreach programs, and the ability to create collaborative alliances with public and private organizations as well as other community members.

Current management philosophy calls for empowering organized skills sets toward completion of goals and objectives. The ‘No Child Left Behind’ scenario invites the community to reclaim their youth through a reformation of social consciousness. Collaborative alliances share responsibility and capitalize on effective use of time, materials, and resources in meeting collective goals. Partnerships create shared ownership of vision and distribute responsibility of task completion in the achievement of the mission, utilizing both click and brick assets. Socially responsible action in creating low-cost solutions for educational content and delivery to the end user creates community utility. Strategic use of performance measurement improves key areas of management concerns, such as resource allocation, organizational learning, internal processes, and external accountability. Sharing resources empowers synergistic capacity building of each participant and strengthens overall performance.

Web-based Delivery Systems

The area of click vs. brick creates utility through the effective use of communication networks and the availability of curriculum bundles for youth and adult learners. Bundles contain a group of programs selected to cover a wide variety of teaching activities proven effective in increasing students’ skills. Stand-alone modules cover specific academic or work-related subject areas that compliment individualized student curriculum. Professional services utilize proven expertise in virtually all areas of educational administration including curriculum design and implementation, grant writing, resource development, and technology. Training and development programs tailored to meet organizational needs are offered through on-site or distance learning delivery methods. Individual programs for professional career enhancement, deliverable to the desktop, provide continuing education requirements and opportunities for community-based leadership development strategies.

Collaborative Alliances

A data center acquired for multiple-uses has many potential benefits, especially in the growing area of charter schools. Low-cost space for server equipment, with 24/7 support, maximizes data delivery and storage costs while protecting investments. ASP is a unified web development platform providing necessary services for data-on-demand applications such as distance learning programs or on-line testing. Increased bandwidth capacity through the data center means better delivery/response time for the end user, which reduces frustration and increases productivity. Charter schools benefit from cost-saving e-mail and web hosting, curriculum delivery and storage, professional services, and technical support. Small businesses, potentially developed by students and/or staff need similar services to manage costs and maintain effective delivery of products and services.

Capacity Building

Capacity building engages public and private entities toward collaborative partnerships to deliver products and services to specific populations. The data center needs to be equipped with cabling and space for server racks, T-1 lines and/or DS3 fiber optic cables with auxiliary power supply to ensure reliable service. Centralized technology service and storage invites industry partnerships to further develop state-of-the-art delivery systems, classroom integration and participation, and e-deliverable products and services to the public, such as for home schooling families. Capacity building of professional resources and services empowers greater efficiency of human resources and increased effectiveness of human action. Educational resources become more affordable to individual sites through collective acquisition and bargaining power. Turn-key educational capacity and business services offer a window of opportunity to would-be entrepreneurs concerned about the future of education and business practices.

Future Development

Collective purchased curriculum packages (bundled or stand-alone) will offer educational programs at greatly reduced costs, increasing access to low-income areas. Increases opportunity for teacher-developed curricula to be made available to large numbers and remunerate the creator in the process. Housing or linking (from main page) a selection of distance learning programs increases exposure and income for educational institutions and development companies offering programs. Community Technology Centers, developed as partnerships with schools, provide additional capacity for adult education programs for acquiring a GED or college credits toward degree programs. Community-based educational programs empower community leaders and members to effectively develop and manage community affairs. Access to social services electronic programs increases quality of life for low-income community members.

CTC Opportunities

Charter schools that choose to work together can reduce curriculum expenses while increasing teacher effectiveness, which means more time with the students and easier lesson planning.  Web hosting services, along with e-mail, provide schools greater exposure with less cost. Internet content filters installed on-site keeps clean content delivery for students and teachers. Non-Profit Organizations benefit through reduced costs, greater accessibility of Internet or Web-related services, while building capacity in the development of the network of organizations and service to the community. Service Organizations can offer assistance, information, and programs while establishing growth in their community network. Discussions, forums, web-based workshops, are made available with ease of data management.

Collaborative alliances and partnerships provide greater ease of focused funding while building capacity throughout the Network of Providers/Users. Groups, both youth and adult, can access ‘clean’ information, communicate with other groups, and provide members with selected products and services specific to their areas of focus. The CTC data center allows organized curriculum delivery through e-business technology while minimizing costs for upgrades of software and hardware. Parents who choose to homeschool their children can have up-to-date State Standard-based curriculum delivered to their home computer at affordable costs. Parents can also refresh themselves on educational processes to help facilitate their student’s learning. Meanwhile, charter schools can also utilize the cost-effectiveness of group purchasing of materials through the CTC’s variety of resources made possible by the collaborative alliances.

Conclusion

Cooperation creates open environments for growth and success through inclusion of the best of each organization’s expertise. This type of e-business allows competitive activity, which has lead to conflict and exclusivity of information, to engage more fully in the market through shared technologies. Collaborative Alliances are the way of future, applying best practices in current management philosophy, which empowers organizations to build capacity through shared resources. Sustainable growth comes from community involvement that is facilitated through the inclusion practices of the organization; developing a community capable of raising the new genre of children through a systems approach to learning. A new paradigm of leadership, based on socially and environmentally responsible action, provides a balance between libertarian and utilitarian methods of personal involvement. The greater good is served through the empowerment of individual skills sets necessary for the program to function. Group(s) alignment with a collective mission allows each individual to serve as an integral part of the whole, empowering participation and results. The synergy of this hybrid model can effectively bridge the click and mortar worlds of business with the growing community educational needs for both youth and adult learners.

E-Curriculum Technology

solutionE-Curriculum Technology

The delivery of curriculum through electronic means is a growing trend in America. Using a Community Technology Center (CTC) to compile and deliver e-curriculum serves not only the community of residence; it also allows businesses, home-schoolers, and public and private schools across the nation low cost access to state-of-the-art curriculum. This paper will examine internal and external elements of procurement, supply chain management, and distribution as applied to the development of this project.

Procurement

“Electronic commerce decreases the cost of creating, processing, distributing, storing, and retrieving paper-based information. For example, by introducing an electronic procurement system, companies can cut purchasing administrative costs by as much as 85 percent.” Pg. 62 Several methods are used for electronic procurement of e-curriculum. Cyber savvy teachers with a passion for sharing regularly post their achievements to electronic repositories. Traditional textbook manufacturers are developing their own brand of e-curriculum. Bundled thematic units are being created by teacher collaboratives, electronic curriculum developers, and even companies that are aligning practical academic knowledge bases with real-world applications.

An active procurement process involves setting up extranets with the variety of suppliers as well as curriculum analysts. Procurement also involves leveraging existing systems, resources, and repositories as functional pieces for intranet and extranet purposes, with ultimate application across the Internet and World Wide Web. Using intelligent agents, the results of searches for state-of-the-art curriculum can also categorize and identify preferred curriculum bundles and/or subjects. This feature should increase utility for customer relationship management as well in fulfilling specific requests. In the case of specific curriculum developers, the agents can identify and compare relative factors within examinable parameters on supplier websites and return ranked scores for internal analysts. Intelligent agents can also be used to seek out teacher-made curriculum, contacting potential candidates, and notifying internal resource developers for follow up on potential suppliers. Collaborative alliances will develop as the project evolves because of the nature of educators’ willingness to support a collective approach to solving many of the problems with traditional curriculum delivery.

Supply Chain Management

“A more recent trend, however—direct-to-consumer selling—is driving an even larger logistics shift in the U.S., according to Ron Riggin, vice president and general manager of MARC Global Systems. MARC is a global supply chain execution (SCE) systems provider for tier-one and -two customers at hundreds of sites worldwide. The latest 3PL trend is application hosting, a.k.a. ASP. ASPs disseminate logistics applications over private networks or the Internet from a location other than the customer’s. “The world is moving back to data centers, like 20 years ago when IT occupied the IBM universe,” said Mr. Riggin. “Especially in the last year to 18 months, IT architecture has been moving to the ASP model via intranets. Now, with Web technology, ASPs and 3PLs can deliver software on demand to end users in real time. You get local processing ability but central management.” (Navas, 2003)

Designing the CTC with data center capacity increases electronic disintermediation in the B2C supply chain. Storage of electronic curriculum on local servers increases uptime and deliverability to local clients via intranets and distance clients via extranets and the Internet. Once the hardware infrastructure is in place, intelligent agents will again deliver accessible product for perusal, acceptance or rejection, and categorization for inclusion in the e-catalog of available material or queued for additional screening. Licensing and User Agreements will promote low-cost accessibility for low-income communities, un- or under-employed professionals and small businesses. Through collaborative alliances and consumer survey development, suppliers can further refine products for specific clients and extend their product development potential.

Distribution

Clients will include on-site users at the CTC, home-schoolers, life-long learners, small businesses, and charter, district and private schools. The distribution model includes our ultimate consumer satisfaction, supply chain management, and relationship building marketing model to ensure future growth and sustained use. Although the direct link between producer (in the case of teachers) and consumer may not be possible, the capacity to collect and store data, concerning curriculum, allows an ever-greater market for the individual or collaborative teacher teams.

The CTC infrastructure increases the capability to deliver the e-curriculum through the internal LAN and across intranets, extranets, and the Internet. Special intelligent agents are again involved to monitor access and means of distribution in order to increase customer satisfaction, monitor internal processes within the software systems, and continue quality delivery to end users. In-house servers with DS3 lines ensure enough bandwidth availability during peak accessing times so that the real-time delivery is not interrupted.

It is also conceivable that collaborative alliances will develop as distribution channels grow. Many charter schools are hampered by the high cost of e-curriculum packages that are poorly serviced once they are delivered and installed. Third-party distribution channels will develop through the relationships that are built with schools and small businesses, expanding the delivery capacity of e-curriculum. Using the intranet server within the CTC as an application warehouse helps to reduce maintenance and support problems.

E-Business Trends

CTC1E-Business Trends and Forces

E-Business has revolutionized the worlds of business to business, business to consumer, consumer to consumer, business with Government, and Nonprofit relationships. Although e-business is not ubiquitous in its applications to every consumer, niche and target marketing have become a necessary focus of the evolving business models. Products and services offered via the Web are growing at an astounding rate and simultaneously growing the marketing methodologies. This process is not only synergizing marketing strategies; it is transforming the way business is done. Education, across the spectrum of child to adult and life-long learners, is also part of this transformative expansion.

Educational Trends

At the time of this writing there are 116,910 public and private schools with K-12 students in the United States alone, of which 89,508 are public. Virtually every public school is now connected to the Internet. In the US alone, there are over 52 million K-12 school students and 4.2 million K-12 teachers. USD 351 billion was expended on K-12 education in 1999 with an additional USD 232 billion spent on post secondary education, not including vocational, specialty and professional development training. (Source: National Center for Education Statistics) It is also estimated that schools write 25 million purchase orders in a year at a cost of between USD 100 and USD 150 above the actual cost of the product for each requisition. (Source: Lamar Alexander, CEO of Simplexis.com, February 1, 2000). .

The Information Age and the pundits of propaganda (traditional textbook producers) are at war. Public schools, even with the technology that is now being incorporated, are slow to respond to the changes in the learning behaviors of students. The incorporation of the Web in the classroom is underutilized by most students due to the unavailability of technology in the classrooms themselves. Web-based learning, along with the use of LAN and WAN capacity development, is increasing faster than most schools can manage. Technology is changing at such a rapid pace that even the best Technology Plans often fall short due to the lack of skills, or resistance to change old teaching patterns within the classroom.

Inclusion of new information regarding the nature of learning, including multiple intelligences and emotional intelligences, puts even more pressure on the professional development of teachers and the need for state-of-the-art curriculum. Some schools have incorporated computer-based instructional programs that have been developed to meet or exceed State Standards for educational proficiency levels, or levels of mastery of the material. These programs incorporate multimedia, which is supposed to make the material ‘interesting’ and ‘fun’ to learn for the students, yet provide little more than clicks and giggles. The ‘giggles’ come from students who think they are ‘getting by’ simply by following the same linear educational philosophy of the industrialists (Dewey, et al.) who created the current system. There is very little challenge for them.

Charter schools that have incorporated these ‘stand alone’ programs often have less-than-adequate teachers at the helm of the classroom, believing that following the bouncing ball (prescribed path) will meet the educational needs of the students. Of course, that is providing that there is adequate technology in the classrooms of the charter schools, which unfortunately is usually not the case. Many schools have donated computers that essentially are the leftovers after companies have upgraded their own. Charter schools, although publicly funded, do not receive the same financial contributions per student as district public schools. This affects the level of utility that a charter school can effectively perform for the community it serves.

CTC Trends

A Community Technology Center (CTC) is where people get free or low-cost access to computers and computer-related technology, such as the Internet, together with learning opportunities that encourage exploration and discovery. Partnerships create shared ownership of vision and distribute responsibility of task completion in the achievement of collaborative missions, utilizing both click and brick assets. Socially responsible action in creating low-cost solutions for educational content and delivery to the end user creates community utility.

“Enormous resources are being spent in the public and private sectors on education and workforce development. Last year, an estimated $5.7 billion was spent on technology in schools alone. The challenge here is not finding resources but deploying them effectively. There have been many experiments deploying technology and training in low-income communities over the last decade. These promising models, from technology training programs for youth to online content development efforts, provide useful lessons for going to scale — lessons not yet widely applied. There is a growing constituency for these issues: business leaders concerned with a quality workforce, parents who want opportunities for their children, and educators and others who want to see technology tools for youth not only in schools but in after-school programs, housing facilities, faith institutions and libraries. Elected officials are interested in technology, workforce, and education issues and are ready to move ahead with policies that suit their districts and state.” (Children’s, 2003)

E-Content Forces

Global E-commerce revenue will top USD 1.1 trillion by 2002, up from USD 15 billion in 1997, according to recent estimates from Deloitte Consulting. (Source: Forrester Research) The following figure charts the increasing activity of the internet sector and projects continued acceleration in growth over the next few years.

Updated Info

The US is expected to generate the majority of the total Internet generated revenue, USD 842 billion. The rest of the world’s regions together would generate the remaining USD 300 billion. The Asian market is predicted to generate USD 50 billion in revenue. In addition, there are 92 million US and Canadian web surfers over the age of 16 and another 150 million people worldwide who actively use the Internet. Over 60 percent of these surfers shop on-line. By the end of 2005, it is predicted the global market will grow to over 300 million surfers of who 225 million will shop on-line. Nearly 70 percent of this Internet “universe” will be outside of North America. (Source: The Computer Industry Almanac, December 1999)

“The great untold story of online commerce is that business-to-business sales have already eclipsed the higher-profile business-to-consumer (B2C) market by a long shot. Annual B2B e-commerce is projected to soar from $34 billion in 1998 to $1 trillion by 2003, according to Forrester Research, while the consumer market swells from $7.8 billion to $108 billion in the same period.” (Source: Business 2.0, September 1999) According to the Gartner Group, 7% of the forecasted USD 15 trillion total global sales transactions will be done through B2B e-commerce. Updated figures by the Gartner Group on January 26, 2000 estimated the B2B market to grow from USD 145 billion in 1999 to USD 7.29 trillion in 2004.
Differentiation

The target market for this project includes K-12 learners, young adults, and life-long learners. These individuals are in public and private schools, at home, and at various places of employment throughout the world. The CTC framework allows low-cost accessibility of curriculum, assessment, and State reporting as a result of data storage and retrieval capacity within the local data center and direct links with similar facilities nationwide. Features and functions of the CTC website include most of the standard models of e-business, such as shopping carts, real-time inventory (ASP feedback), customer service (on and off-line), product information and catalog, customization for specific programs, wish lists, and intelligent agents. Marketing to educators, schools, home-learners, training and development departments, correctional facilities, and other potential clientele will occur through a combination of e-direct, reciprocal links, industry publications (on and off-line), and referral networks. Benefits of this project/program include time-saving lesson development and topic-specific thematic units, low-cost access (shared resource), training and development templates for ease of instruction, career and professional development for working professionals and life-long learners.

Conclusion
Educational reformation is unavoidable and is happening whether we like it or not. Much of this process is happening through underdeveloped or underutilized programs and click and mortar structures caught in paradigm paralysis. This paradigm paralysis occurs because there are no new models, no working examples, of what is truly necessary to develop strong youth and adult learning programs and ultimately a strong community. It is apparent by our ‘walled communities’ that we have forgotten the essence of what makes us strong as a nation. Sustainable growth comes from community involvement that is facilitated through the inclusion practices of the organization; developing a community capable of raising the new genre of children through a systems approach to learning.

Learning Culture

koko_pebble_md_whtLearning Culture

Spectrum Academy’s concept and design embodies the learning organization, constantly growing through leadership, educators, management, and staff that are change agents in themselves. Building a learning organization requires perseverance and persistence among the leadership team as there is normally much unlearning in the initial stages. Wise leadership anticipates the resistance and prepares pathways to shift the paradigm paralysis. Both external and internal forces have created the need for change within the areas of focus addressed by Spectrum’s plan. Facilitating a learning organization such as Spectrum Academy challenges the leadership to create a new model of change for the paradigm paralysis in education and juvenile correctional systems to date, which

Information Gathering – Organizational Capabilities

Education and communication, includes so-called “students-at-risk”, most of whom have severe difficulties learning within a mechanistic reductionistic paradigm, which emphasizes linear, sequential processes. Such has been the process of management in most of the facilities that address at-risk youth. Natural and common sense questions come forth for the gathering of information to facilitate the learning organization. What kinds of programs are working elsewhere, even if they are only pieces of Spectrum’s vision? How are these organizations implementing a structure that recognizes and adapts to what works while learning from and minimizing what does not? What and where are the performance gaps and disconnects? What are these old patterns within the existing systems and how/where would they manifest? What kinds of demonstrable results can be anticipated, documentable and observable? What metrics have been or can be used for documentation? The answers contribute to the factors that facilitate organizational learning, such as scanning imperatives, performance gaps, and concern for measurement.

Additional data is acquired by answering more questions. What are the key features of transformational leadership necessary in this quest for change, within the youths and in the potential residual personal patterns of staff that may inhibit the process? How are they evidenced? What process can be used to share observations and concerns? What are the alternatives that produce a paradigm shift toward patterns that engage transformation through use of behavioral and situational leadership? What organizations are having success with peer-community building? What continuous training will be necessary for leadership, management, staff and teachers? What are the leadership needs for the various business units within Spectrum? In the key areas of operation, who are the key leaders and what skill sets do they need to support operations? The answers to these questions focus on the experimental mindset, climate of openness, continuous education and operational variety within Spectrum Academy.

What kinds of communication channels are necessary to keep open lines of communication between all levels of the organization? Where and who are the apparent advocates and gatekeepers of procedure and process? How is the vision and mission maintained through the leadership team, relative to the educators, staff, youth and community stakeholders? What are the organizational goals and are they clear to the stakeholders? How does the interdependence of the business units, residential treatment center, charter school and community technology center, empower optimization of organizational goals and utilize problems to produce solutions of systemic relationships? These questions focus on the need for multiple advocates, involvement of leadership, and systems perspective of this learning organization as Spectrum Academy.

Learning Organizations

Metanoia, a shift in mind, is the core of a learning organization’s thrust for change. It can be said that a point of perspection dances in the balance of the seer’s vision. It is this ‘dance’ of the mind that seeks balance, order, and structure in the process of change; ultimately a ‘shift’ toward learning. Peter Senge details five key elements of a learning organization: systems thinking, personal mastery, mental models, building shared vision, and team learning.  He describes the team as – “a group of people who functioned together in an extraordinary way -  who trusted one another, who complemented each others’ strengths and compensated for each others’ limitations, who had common goals that were larger than individual goals, and who produced extraordinary results.” (Senge, 1990) According to the text, “A practical interpretation of these ideas results in the following definition. A learning organizationis one that proactively creates, acquires, and transfers knowledge and that changes its behavior on the basis of new knowledge and insights.” (Kreitner, 2001)

Initial Feature Introductions

Tom Peters says that, “The ultimate stage of involvement is the regular, spontaneous taking of initiative.” (Thriving on Chaos, 1987) It is only appropriate that education, from a systemic and systematic standpoint, finds new ways to draw out the unique individuality of an employee, a manager, or a student. Any system is the synergy of its parts, greater than the sum. “Because differentiation is one-half of a complex consciousness, each person must follow his or her own bent, find ways to realize his or her unique individuality.” (Evolving Self, 1993) The ‘systems’ approach here is to identify and nurture the natural skill sets of the individual in order for them to find their natural order and place within the collective,  evidencing and exampling a holistic view.

Resistance to Change

Humans often resist anything new. Crafting an approach to the resistance of the concept and application of holistic education offers opportunity to discover solutions to fix the flaws and close the gaps in the current approach. What we propose is a much better fit to the current situation and needs of the evolving student. An integrated system naturally addresses inherent conflict and provides tools to ascend from it, using the conflict to engage creative thinking rather than rote action, which the latter is accessing much lower levels of brain activity such as the fight or flight syndrome. “The survival of our ego is at stake. Our vision begins to be stated in things we don’t want- ‘I don’t want to fail,’ ‘I don’t want to be unhealthy,’ or ‘I don’t want to want to be poor.” (Magic of Conflict, 1987)

What fits here is the need to move toward collaboration rather than resistance. Our current educational environment often contributes to ‘moving away from’ rather than moving toward a goal or a vision, even though it is often stated otherwise. The fear of failure often precludes the joy of success. Trust means letting go of fear, even when you are vulnerable. Change creates vulnerability. Often the affect is not the desired outcome. A holistic approach includes the development and nurturing of the creative nature within the human being; what is supposed to be at the core of our person. This ‘fit’ has obvious benefit for both participants and staff at all levels.

Changes in Organizational Culture

The function of holistic education within the community exemplifies the systems approach in business, education, and community. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s research identifies some interesting details that not only acknowledge the obvious; they reveal potential structure for creating environments that illicit personal and professional growth, which is so necessary for the future of students and their success in life.

“As our studies have suggested, the phenomenology of enjoyment has eight major components. … The combination of all these elements causes a sense of deep enjoyment that is so rewarding people feel that expending a great deal of energy is worthwhile simply to be able to feel it.” (Flow, 1990)

Adults- educators, employees, leaders, managers, and professionals- throughout the structure will also notice an elevated feeling of accomplishment, which reflects in a stronger desire for change and results in promoting the new paradigm within the structure of the organization in carrying out the vision and mission.

Employee-Manager Relationships

Creation of win/win scenarios in the development stages of Spectrum Academy includes improvement in the manager/employee relationships. The strategic plan calls for the negotiation of resources (hard to soft), processes, and the inclusion of production and/or distribution of the products to be achieved through collaborative research and development projects, effectively partnering for profit.  Our customers are our students, their parents and/or guardians, the community, and other educational institutions that are shifting paradigm approaches toward education through purchasing the school’s products.

Prioritization of goals requires the business administration and operations of Spectrum Academy’s scorecard to be a primary concern. Developing partnerships empowers everyone to contribute their best efforts toward the success of Spectrum Academy. Looking at the specific example of old paradigm adversarial labor relations, partnerships between managers and employees bring a fresh approach to problem solving. The following example of interest-based negotiation comes from a working model in Michigan.

“What is the Interest-Based Process?
It is the non-adversarial approach to labor issues that can be used for negotiations, problem-solving, communications and relationships and improving school climate.

Why it Works
The interest-based process is based on objective reasoning rather than power or coercion. Because it is analytic and creative, it helps people employ these strengths as partners in problem-solving and decision-making. Unlike traditional negotiations where there are winners and losers, all parties in the interest-based process own the solution. There is mutual commitment to the process and its results.” (MECA, 1999)

The speed at which youth learn and adapt often intimidates adults that have forgotten the voracious appetites of young learners. Even young adults are far more adaptable to changing environments than in the past, even the previous generation. This can also affect staff performance. The creation of manager/employee partnerships can effectively smooth out the bumps in the process.

Embracing the Leadership of Change

The world thrives on the continuing development of technology. Leadership technology applied in psychospiritual, scientific, and organizational arenas facilitates a learning organization toward optimal performance. Both hard and soft technologies are critical in the ever-expanding insatiable curiosity of humans. Oftentimes we ‘do not know what cannot be done’ because there has never been much of the new technology focused in this particular direction.

We are learning to construct new models of reality with technology, inclusive of the educational and treatment arenas. The personal leadership of the writer embraces the optimal tenets of behavioral, charismatic, situational, transactional, and transformational styles. All of the past learning and development of personal style seems to fit perfectly into this environment. Anticipation of acceleration into recognized mastery among the employees, management, youth, and stakeholders outside the facility is appropriate consideration it would seem.

Monitoring the Process – Utilizing a Balanced Scorecard

The goals for the scorecard of administration and operations include customer, financial, innovation/learning and internal business perspectives. Our customers are our students, their parents and/or guardians, the community, and other educational/treatment institutions that are shifting paradigms. Prioritization of goals requires the business administration and operations of Spectrum Academy’s scorecard to be a primary concern. It currently looks like this:

Customer Perspective

    1. Our customers are consistently satisfied with the products and services provided by Spectrum Academy business administration and stakeholders.
    2. Our stakeholders recognize the value of our contribution to the Spectrum Academy mission:
      • Quality and efficiency of operations
      • Ethical exercise of fiduciary responsibility
      • Holistic approach to education/treatment
      • Creation of collaborative alliances

Financial Perspective

  1. We ensure Spectrum Academy financial integrity and demonstrate fiduciary responsibility for capital and financial assets throughout the system.
  2. We deliver our services in an efficient, cost-effective manner. The value we create exceeds the cost of creating it.
  3. We ensure delivery of quality services and products in support of the Spectrum Academy mission by facilitating the generation of revenue.

Innovation/Learning Perspective

  1. We create a workplace that fosters teamwork, integrity, professionalism, pride, and trust.
  2. We attract, retain and enable a highly skilled, diverse workforce capable of successfully delivering Spectrum Academy business administration and operations products and services to our customers.
  3. We achieve high degree of innovation, efficiency, effectiveness and quality of service in every area of our business through the utilization of information technology.
  4. We encourage and reward enterprising behaviors and actions throughout the Spectrum Academy system.
  5. We improve continuously.

Internal Business Perspective

  1. We develop and implement demonstrably clear policies, simple procedures and efficient work processes.
  2. We anticipate the future and we design and improve our programs and services in ways that ensure future success.
  3. Accountability underlies everything we do.
  4. We leverage our skills and resources, both collectively and individually, directly supporting the academic mission of Spectrum Academy.

“The balanced scorecard tracks the elements of an organization’s strategy – from serving its constituencies to developing partnerships, ensuring financial stewardship, building skills, fostering teamwork and continuously improving the effectiveness of internal work processes. No single measure can provide insight into an organization’s performance into relation to specific goals. The balanced scorecard allows the organization to view its performance through multiple lenses.” (U.of C., 2003)

Conclusion

Spectrum Academy is built on the foundation of best practices in management philosophy, inclusive of customer involvement, supply chain management, and labor relations. By adhering to the goals of the balanced scorecard approach, the school will engage cross-functional teams at every level in its operations. The discoveries of these teams and the analysis of their findings will set the prioritization for elements within each division and department.

Systems-thinking requires that all elements have importance and relevance in the mix. Spectrum Academy’s creation of interdependent business and community relationships will demonstrate the value of the vision and mission of the school. In today’s ever-changing environment, Spectrum Academy will have the administrational and operational foundations to manage that change with skill and precision. Combining, even synergizing, the traditional framework of business, school, and community so that it is addressed as a whole system only makes sense in the growing demands of operating in the world in an integrated fashion. The infrastructure of progressive institutions allows and even encourages new discoveries and their incorporation into the institutional mix. The Academy seeks to apply cutting-edge integrative technologies, both scientific and psychospiritual, across the spectrum to meet the emerging demands of the 21st Century student and community.

Enigmatic Ethical Dilemmas

SignEnigmatic Ethical Dilemmas

Enigmatic ethical dilemmas are prevalent in today’s world. Our society faces such perverted business practices, i.e. the push for the pipeline, in a surrealistic daily life. Yet, it is up to each individual to recognize his or her own accountability and act responsibly. Relationships, personal and professional, engage prioritized needs in the quest for balance and appropriate service to family, friends and profession.

Family presents a plethora of enigmatic dilemmas on all levels of intimate vulnerability. Friends, especially close ones, transcend boundaries of vulnerability to truly demonstrate their willingness to address concerns. Professional environments require a certain reticence toward the vestibule of vulnerability. Facilitating positive outcomes often requires one to be instantly critically self-reflective toward self and others in order to empower harmony in the world around them.

Family order, in its purest sense, relies on the familial sense of community within the core of the emotions that provide the foundation for action, engagement or response with the world. As a teen, we engage life in a more irresponsible manner as we search for identity and purpose. Our behaviors as teens and young adults do not always reflect the same desires for our children as they reach these critical periods of their maturation process.

Observing certain behaviors or habits in teens is not too difficult, especially having been down many of the same paths. That does not always make them pleasant. As a parent, we face a new level of responsibility for our beloved babies, yet nurturing their growth is often a moment-to-moment action driven by a desire for complete honesty. Truth does not always mean full disclosure. My father said those words to me as a teenager. It took me years to realize the depth of their meaning, let alone apply them with my children.

Teens nearing the point of being on their own develop certain attitudes as part of their process, to greater or lesser degrees, depending on their past environments. As flexible and malleable as children are to their own desires, they lack critical reflection of their action’s affects on their environment, specifically the ‘harmony’ of the house. Emotional stability, i.e. the single parent’s self image, is important to the well being of the house.

The enigmatic ethical dilemma here: How do you affect change with the least chaos and still require integrity and respect toward others in the teenage behaviors?

In the quest for successful outcomes, critical conversation between parenting parties is most important. Obvious as it may be, even adults often have considerable problems when critically reflecting on their child rearing skills. Vulnerability transcends timidity as a unified front evolves through this discovery process. It is the discovery in the sense that we, parenting partners, are establishing what we consider to be agreeable levels of acceptable accountability.

How does one inquire of what another feels acceptable without creating defensiveness or self-judgment of parenting progress to date? Interpersonal skills undoubtedly come into play, yet critical reflection of assumptions regarding discovery of another’s value system may not always produce pleasant results.

Friends, on the other hand are usually less intimate in their levels of expressed vulnerability. The best friends are those who risk their friendships to be direct and honest in respect of their friendship. Longevity of relationship often allows greater levels of vulnerability and depth of conversation. Shared activities in specific areas of passion, such as playing music, increases the opportunities for in-depth conversation and discovery of deeper connections to each other and to life.

Some types of music require a much greater sense of openness due to the nature and style of music and the need for ‘feeling’ each other’s groove, so to speak. Great improvisational artists are often deep thinkers and tend to relate to their environment more from a feeling level; a ‘gut’ instinct response as opposed to calculated reasoning.

Being able to honestly believe that I had no cause for alarm, the enigmatic ethical dilemma was in how to deal with obvious problems. Whether the problem was a lack of attentiveness or dishonesty and thievery only exacerbated emotions that were already in the undesirable category. A wise man, rector of a Taoist sanctuary, once shared that there is no right or wrong, only what is more desirable or less desirable in regard to outcomes.

Patterns are prevalent, whether obvious or not so obvious. What we do anywhere we do everywhere. If we are easily swayed by circumstances to act dishonorably, then how can we expect life to respond kindly? Unfortunately, these types of situations have the potential to damage relationships when they are not addressed. Occasionally situations cause normally honest people to act dishonestly. Can we forgive and forget? Are we are brother’s keeper, and as such, empowered to confront in kindness? What are the risks and rewards?

Professionally speaking, one has a commitment to performing in order to fulfill job description requirements. Right action is predicated upon desired results. In large companies, many people must work together cooperatively to fulfill the needs of the company, be it building widgets or providing software support. In these environments, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs plays a major role in personal motivations.

When one is confident and produces results with relative ease, others begin to question their methodology. Some will look at the success with disdain while others will inquire of the secrets to their success. A good manager will usually empower the people below them by capitalizing on the successful techniques and sharing them through less direct methods, such as interpersonal skills development.

In one particular case involving the aerospace industry, the use of interpersonal skills gave this one quite an advantage in an arena that seemed to be bereft of these types of individuals. Promotions came quickly into the most dynamic area of the company; production control. In a departmental meeting, consisting of nearly 40 individuals, the basic reaffirmations of job duties and requirements were made with special emphasis on soliciting ideas from the group as to how management could better support the department and its people.

This one, not realizing the inherent snake pit, spoke up with the request for interpersonal skills classes. He honored the ability of those who came up through the expediting realms and their success. He also stated that now the daily dealings were with professionals, most of which held degrees and had been in professional environments for some time, requiring a greater skill level to accomplish tasks without any real authority.

Traditionally the power hungry, go-to-your-boss types exacerbated these environments and inherent difficulties with production schedules if their needs were not met. Success was had at the expense of others in most cases and too often one had to watch the back to make sure that nothing was sticking out of it. Some of the personalities were so blatantly self-serving that production flow was stifled just because of insubordinate actions of others in retaliation of aberrant attitudes.

After suggesting interpersonal skills classes, this one was shunned by many of the department’s staff. Nearly a year later there was another meeting and it was discovered only after its completion. Acknowledging the faux pas, the suggestion of interpersonal skills classes was made again, citing that the job was people working with people no matter what the product. A request for a consultant was made and the search performed by myself, accessing the network of professional through University of Phoenix.

Three weeks later we had a small meeting, the consultant, the general supervisor and myself, who was still just a member of the department with no management involvement. The consultant presented his team building approach, referencing work he had been doing for the Navy, Motorola, Sperry, Honeywell, and Intel. The general supervisor genuinely liked the prospects of what this program offered and acknowledged that he would have to consult with his superiors before making a decision.

Another three weeks passed. One day my supervisor, along with the general supervisor came up to me with the news that I was being demoted. It was decided that I was not performing up to standards and with my personal problems, an imminent divorce, they thought it best that I return to second shift for a while, resuming work in an old position as an expediter. I was at a loss and felt totally degraded. What could I do?

Just out of curiosity I had a friend look into the statistical records of department performance. My rating was one of the highest in the department, always exceeding goals. The one thing that I could take pride in, having accepted the demise of my marriage, was taken away. To this day I have trouble rationalizing the results of my best efforts to serve the company. How could this have happened?

There were no other warning signs, or at least none I felt apparent. Now, what could I do to show the iniquity? Was it worth the time and effort to stir the pot to find out? Would it have been prudent to file a grievance with our human resources department? What could I base it on? The department statistics were supposed to be confidential and available only to managers.

Unfortunately I took the easy road and did nothing. I was emotionally bereft from major efforts to keep our marriage together. I felt like I’d put my best foot forward in both worlds and was currently legless, having lost both at the hips. Somehow I made it through and came to the belief that it was all for the best. I was fine being responsible for production of units used in commercial applications. I had recently just come off a task-team that had been working on reducing military spares delinquent shipments.

I’d made a suggestion to the team leader that, when he followed through, brought him an $800 suggestion award. It was apparent that if I was going to stay in that environment that I was going to have to become just like it. Rather than having to make the choice, it was made for me. Still, if I were in a similar situation today, I would do it all over again. The company eventually brought classes in a year after I left. The job got done, even though I wasn’t there to witness.

How does one guard against such situations in management today? Can companies truly excel when their employees are under constant threat of retaliation? Have we lost the concepts of doing good business with a handshake and your word as your bond? Are we so blind as to not see that true selfish motivations of even our president? Was the 9-11 event a total scam just to get to the oil in Afghanistan? Obviously there are conflicting opinions.

What is the truth? Are we not in a major enigmatic ethical dilemma as a world? Are the ‘best practices’ taught through programs college management programs truly worthless on the global scale? If I had arrived from another planet just recently and were attempting to figure out the society here, I’d have great difficulty with the so-called ethical and moral behavior that is acceptable as the best that can be done presently. So what do WE do about it?

Relaunching 15 Years Later

LogoStacked222Relaunching… A half a life ago I wrote a first draft of a model community concept for the business case project of my bachelor’s degree in business. I switched projects mid-stream after an eye-opening experience during the Harmonic Convergence. I worked for an aerospace company at the time. I was responsible for $7 million in shipments on a monthly basis, over 800 part numbers on the Commercial Spares desk. There was talk that I was going to be transferred to the Military Spares desk as part of a Customer Improvement Program (CIP) for the DOD. Our company was 27% delinquent on the military spares delivery schedule. I was known for being able to get things done, so I got picked for turning the tide. A year later, we were less that 7% delinquent and our $1 million/mo. progress payment was restored.

I was not comfortable with working military anything. My marriage was deteriorating and soon after the CIP results were in, I got demoted. I’d supplied some information that my boss took and got a suggestion award as a result. It’s funny how folks ruin relationships just to get ahead. I saw those same behaviors across departments in the aerospace company. I started Be The Dream as a consulting company in January 1988 as a direct result of the lack of personal and professional development in the manufacturing industry, specifically at this company. I thought addressing the issues and transforming attitudes would serve the good of all. Little did I know I was launching into an organizational development and management career. I’m still on the fringes after all these years, leading into the psycho-spiritual realms of thoughtmospheric conditions.

One of the first changes in direction came in the business project. I had been working on the CIP documentation. The more I did, the more I felt abused by the behavior of the supervisor and the powerlessness I felt in the face of telling the truth to upper management. The supervisor was a golden child in their eyes. I had been as well, up to that point. I felt my life changing drastically, so I went with what I had passion for then. My passion was ignited by getting people to work together better toward the good of all. So I took that concept to its logical conclusion – a model village that brought together cultural, religious and political ideologies and transcended their differences. I wanted to fulfill what I’d been told I was here to do as a teenager… facilitate a new world order of harmony among people and planet.

A decade later I’d finished my MBA and Secondary Teaching certification. I love surfing the Net and had engaged many discussion threads on a variety of topics in my ‘spare’ time. I’d taught for a couple of years and one night I got an email about an event that seemed to stir something deep within me. Long story short, a few months later I had presented a brilliantly scripted presentation and accepted a role that would take me to the next level of my life’s mission. As a result I had to learn how to build websites. I’d built my first computer a decade earlier and had plenty of instruction on desktop publishing, so I was excited to move forward on the Web. By the time I was done and with a little help from a friend early on, I’d crafted a website that had almost a hundred pages. In a few months it was getting over 20,000 visits a month.

At the time I wasn’t into e-commerce and had no compulsion to become an internet millionaire. The thought never crossed my mind, actually. I was more interested in growing a community of folks that thought much the same as I, that there is a group of people who are here to assist mankind in the transformation that’s necessary for us to create a sustainable future. We have to learn to get along in order to do that, a feat that many believe is impossible today. There are many distractions from the basic unity of humanity, that we are one people on one planet adrift in an ocean of emotion that tends to separate us due to our fears of each others beliefs and culture. Our planetary civilization is in the process of evolution, moving through the terrible teens of self-centered and selfish activities that only benefit the few. The transition of maturity is learning to behave toward the good of all.

Now after continuing to add to that website, BeTheDream.net, I’ve observed the dwindling of traffic and the need for a redesign. I’ve thought about this for a few years now and just couldn’t take it down and wipe the folder clean. After all, I had nearly a thousand pages by the time I was done, according to the crawler reports. Regardless, it was time to let go and start over. I’d done that a few time with other social media accounts, starting over after acquiring over 10,000 Twitter followers. That was when you could do the automatic stuff through special programs that did it for you. I felt that was a bit to easy and non-organic. So I started over.

I’m starting over again here with BeTheDream.Net in its new form. Perhaps that traffic will return, the energy will recycle and we’ll all have a grand time with a resurgence of creativity from the interactivity I pray happens. That will remain to be seen. Thanks for showing up and reading this now. It means its working… one person at a time.
